Will there even be elections now that Trump is in power?

We aren’t putting it past Trump to try to subvert future elections — frankly, we’re counting on it — but the truth is that it’s going to be pretty hard for him do so. Ending elections would, among other things, require each state government to decide not to hold them.

For that reason, we want to gently caution Democrats and progressives against catastrophizing or making Trump appear more powerful than he is. Trump would like nothing more than for us to decide the fix is in, conclude there is nothing we can do about it, and surrender in advance. Let’s not fall for it.
